A driveway is one of the biggest slabs on your property, and it takes a beating from cars, salt, and Ohio's freeze-thaw winters. Most driveway failures start under the concrete, not on top of it. That's why Sensational Concrete puts the most time into the part you'll never see: the base. Owner Daren Youngberg runs every job.
Driveway work we do
- New and full-replacement driveways, including long runs to detached garages and country homes.
- Asphalt-to-concrete conversions. Several customers came to us from blacktop.
- Widening and extensions for a second car, a trailer, or easier turning, tied cleanly into the existing slab.
- Aprons and approaches where the driveway meets the street.
How we build a driveway
- Excavation. We remove the old surface and dig out to the right depth.
- Compacted gravel base. This is what carries the load and keeps water moving away.
- Forms and slope. We set forms for clean edges and the right pitch so water drains off.
- Reinforcement. Fiber mesh in the mix.
- Freeze/thaw-rated concrete. High-quality concrete rated for Ohio winters.
- Control joints and broom finish. We cut joints to manage cracking, and an even broom texture gives your tires traction.
From one car to two
Here's how customers put it:
"We went from a one car blacktop to a two car beautiful driveway with a porch attached. Work was done in a week and no issues." (Chris Perkins, Google review)
"We hired Daren last Spring to update and expand our driveway, we went from having asphalt to concrete. Our driveway looks absolutely amazing!" (Maria J, Google review)
"So happy with our driveway addition!" (Stephanie Henning, Google review)
Cost
Driveway pricing depends on square footage, tear-out of the old surface, how much base work the site needs, access for trucks, and any decorative work. Every job is quoted on site, and estimates are free.

Frequently asked questions
- Concrete or asphalt: which is better?
- Concrete costs more up front than asphalt, but it doesn't need regular sealcoating the way blacktop does, and it gives you a clean, bright surface.
- Can you widen my existing driveway instead of replacing it?
- Often, yes. We match the height, slope and look of your existing driveway and pour an extension that ties in cleanly. If the old slab is in poor shape, we'll tell you straight whether replacing it makes more sense.
- How long does a driveway job take?
- It depends on the size and the weather. One customer's driveway-and-porch job "was done in a week."
